6th Grade: Identity Through Art

In this unit, Carmel's 6th graders first wrote poems communicating a significant experience or aspect of their identity. Then, they explored the connection between art and writing by creating visual, symbolic representations of their poems. Throughout the unit, they considered and discussed what sorts of things influence them as artists, and how those influences manifest themselves in their artwork.
